Next months schedule

Hello everyone!

Here is the schedule of my different works. Please remember that this is spare-time developement, and that I’m in the last year of my Ph.D. Therefore, I may lack time to work as fast as before, and can’t give you a precise ETA for each application.

  • Physics Body Editor 3.0 — ETA: ~February
The next major update of the editor will feature some heavy changes: you will be able to create complex dynamic objects made of multiple rigid bodies, connected together with custom joints. I also want to add a test environment, with scripting support. There is a lot of work to put all of this together, but that should bring you a very useful application to create powerful and polished games.
  • Physics Level Editor — no ETA
Not yet released, I started working on a generic map editor that would let you place your assets where you want, and define collision contours using the body editor. Of course, the ability to draw mesh terrain is necessary. However, most of the features are ready, do it shouldn’t take a very long time to put this up and running (every time I say this, there’s a big delay because of an unwanted behavior :p).
  • Universal Tween Studio 1.0 — no ETA
The beta test was nice, thanks to everyone who reported missing features and bugs (high five to thotep :p). I still need to include some features to improve the usability, like a right-click context menu.
  • Universal Tween Engine 6.1.0 — ETA: ~February
Next release is mostly complete. It features some ergonomics improvements. For 6.2, I will try to add bezier/quadratic interpolation, to let you define curved paths, instead of only linear ones. It won’t be very useful for properties like rotation, opacity, blur, scale or whatever, but you can definitely see the interest of this for a position property :)
  • Android game: Swing — no ETA
Some months ago, I started working on my first android game. I want to complete it one day, and try to bring a few bucks home if possible, to finance the open-source tools. I needed interpolations for it: I made the Tween Engine. I also needed complex rigid bodies for the terrain: I created Physics Body Editor and started working on Physics Level Editor. I also wanted a nice opening animation: I made the Tween Studio. But I still didn’t make the game :D One day maybe…

That’s all! I think that I should be busy enough for 2012. But who knows, I may need something else to complete the game :p
Have a nice day/week/month, and I hope to give you news soon!

  • Sounds great, I’m eagerly awaiting all of those!

  • Looking forward your great works. And good luck with your graduation.

  • Looking forward to the body and level editor. Hope all goes well. If you need a beta tester give us a shout.

  • As it’s late March now, any news for physics body editor?

    • Its development has started again, and it’s going well!
However, I first needed to create the css engine to facilitate the design of its UI, and it was without accounting for a heavy workload at my day job (which ends on 2 april, hopefully). Therefore, I can only work on these projects for very few hours each days, making their completion task difficult.

More news about the editor soon, once I’ll have something to release as an alpha so you can test it.

  • I also agree with you. i believe that there are lots of lessons to be learned from this book. By not reading the book, we miss out on some elements which are a certain impact to our life. However, I do believe you should be a particular maturity to be able to get from this book what you need
